Cost Calculator FAQ
How accurate is the cost calculator?
The calculator provides a realistic range (typically ±30 %) based on current EU market prices for prototyping and injection molding. For a binding quote we need your CAD data — we'll look at it together in the intro call.
At what volume does injection molding pay off?
Rule of thumb: from 50–100 units per part, tooling costs usually amortize. Below 50 units, 3D printing or CNC are almost always cheaper — the calculator shows the break-even for your part.
How much does an injection molding tool cost?
A simple aluminum tool for small parts starts at around €3,500. Complex steel tools with sliders or multi-cavity molds run €10,000–35,000. Exact costs depend on geometry, cavity count and tool life.
Which process is right for my project?
In short: 1–10 units → 3D printing or CNC. 10–100 units → CNC or sheet metal. From ~100 units → injection molding. Visual prototypes: SLA. Functional metal parts: CNC aluminum or sheet metal. We'll advise you in the free intro call.
